I love to explore the DC food and drink scene when I’m not traveling. There’s always something new to experience, and a fun community of people who enjoy it just as much as I do (like you guys!). On that note, I can’t wait to indulge this weekend at a BIG culinary showcase taking place downtown, Metrocooking DC.
Metrocooking DC is basically a giant foodie event for everyone who likes to eat, cook, host, watch people cook, and shop.
It’s happening at the Washington Convention Center, and is $21.50 in advance to attend (also, if you use the promo code PUERTORICO, your ticket proceeds will benefit Andres’ World Central Kitchen in Puerto Rico). José Andrés will be there, along with Guy Fieri and Carla Hall.
With your ticket, you can see all of these chefs (including a holiday biscuit demo from Hall), have lots of tastings, and watch other demos and cooking workshops. There’s also an Exhibitor Marketplace of over 200 specialty food shops selling local and international goods that you’ll have access to. I can’t wait.
Special, ticketed events include:
- L’Academie de Cuisine cooking classes
- Beer, wine & spirits garden
- BBQ Bash
- Grand Tasting
- VIP ticket packages (aka, a chance to meet Fieri and Andres!).
They are selling out quickly, so, take a look here at what’s still available.
I’m personally looking forward to learning from Vikram Sunderam of Rasika and the new Bindaas, and Erik Bruner-Yang of Maketto. I also really want to find some fun Christmas gifts for my foodie friends and family, maybe a cookbook or two, and get ideas for my holiday party!
Are you going this year? If so, comment below or send me an email and let’s meet up! Stay tuned for a recap of my favorite cultural finds at the show.
