When I travel, I love to stay in places that let me relax and explore the community’s culture. A mix of both really provides a luxurious, experiential travel experience. The Grand Lucayan Resort was a great choice on Grand Bahama Island.
The resort is located right by the Port Lucaya Marketplace, which is my favorite place to people watch and shop in Freeport. Tons of local vendors are housed there, along with local restaurants and bars that locals and tourists both go to.
The resort is also, of course, right on the beach. I stayed at the Lighthouse Pointe, which has spacious guest rooms with balconies, four new restaurants, and outdoor activities. You can choose to stay there with an all-inclusive deal as well.
Food & Drink
There are lots of food options at the Grand Lucayan – from homemade Bahamian pastries to brick oven pizza you can carry onto the beach with you, and a full buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
I especially noticed the friendly, hardworking women bartenders by the pool who made delicious daiquiris and remembered the customers. They even made me a new daiquiri when a bee fell into mine by the pool!
